Wanted and Unwanted
Wanted and Unwanted

In order to know what you want, you have to know what you don't want.

Daily, life causes us to categorize everything in these two categories - wanted and unwanted. As soon as our eyes open, we systematically begin.

Before I am fully conscious, awakening from a deep slumber, my first thoughts are how much I love the Lord and how appreciative I am for another day.

But I wasn't always like this. I'm sure I have told you before in my previous blogs that I was not a pretty person years ago. In fact, I was angry, bitter, resentful, and flat out ugly.

When my eyes were barely open my first thoughts were of disgust towards others, towards circumstances and even towards myself.

My neck was stiff, my body was aging and I physically felt the results of these emotions. Not to mention, my face demonstrated the affects.

But my day didn't start when I woke up. It actually started prior to me falling asleep. Our subconscious minds (which by definition simply means - below consciousness) don't sleep. It is most active when our minds and bodies are at rest.

I would lie in bed and rehearse all the wrongs that happened that day and previous days. I would go as far back as I could remember and revisit all the betrayals.

My subconscious mind was "stewing" on these thoughts the entire night that my mind and body slept. So when I was waking up, I was already at a deficit.

My mind was so dark that I would have vivid imaginations of how I could get revenge. If you looked up the definition of vindictive you would see a picture of my smiling face as the example.

I laid in bed next to a man that cheated on me and I didn't get revenge by cheating on him because that's not one my personality traits. I did something that was devious. And I smiled ear to ear knowing that I executed vengeance.

I only tell you these stories so you can see for yourself how far I've come and why I can never go backward.

When I say that I have love for EVERY ONE and EVERY THING I mean that.

As the man who goes to the gym regularly building his muscles, we too can train our minds to focus and purpose our thoughts to whatever we desire.

My husband was a skinny man with little muscles. He started weight training and with proper nutrition was able to build his body with a lot of hard work, intensity and diligence.

He didn't go one time a year and accomplish these results. This was daily effort and you can look at him now and see the results of his hard work.

I intentionally train my thoughts every day. If a negative thought comes into my mind a hundred times, I replace it immediately.

When I go to sleep at night, I not only think of the amazing things that happened that day but I use my imagination to create what I want to happen in my future.

Because we are God's highest form of creation, we are powerful beings. We are made in His image and our thoughts are creative.

Stop giving attention to negative thoughts. They are just as creative as the positive ones. A man by the name of Job in the Bible said, "the thing that I feared greatly came upon me."

Our realities are direct results of our thoughts. "As a man thinks, so is he - Proverbs 23:7."

Contrast is good. If I didn't know what it was like to be that horrible person that I once was, I wouldn't know how amazing it is to be who I am today.

You have to know what you don't want in order to get what you do want. But focus on what you want and life will become more and more exciting every day.
