THE KEY TO HAPPINESS

We initiate a 14 day count down with decorative reminders that at least one day a year we celebrate our love for one another.

Last night I ventured out and the store was a complete mad house. Each aisle was ransacked and I swear a fight almost broke out over the last chocolate heart bouquet.

For future reference, if you ever find yourself bored, go shopping on the eve of any holiday and I guarantee you will be amused.

I still wear a mask out in some public places and thankfully I had one on because I was smiling so hard the entire time I was there. No doubt people would have assumed I escaped from a mental institution by my perpetual smile.

If there were a key to happiness, literal or figuratively, it is my opinion that very few have found it.

If it is in fact attained, it seems as though the key is coated in a slippery substance and its existence is short lived.

Love is conditional. Love is selfish. Love is fickle. Love is based on how you treat me.

If I were to have written this blog years ago, those statements would have been 100% accurate based on my thought process.

The Bible says that even a mother can forget about her nursing baby so that validates how conditional man's love is.

If we live life established from human being's definition of love, our love is indeed conditional. We divorce, we end life long friendships, we exile neighbors and co-workers, we murder strangers sometimes with weapons and most often by our thoughts, we disown our children if they make decisions we don't agree with, and we walk away from commitments without hesitation.

However, the greatest abomination and disillusion is when we confuse man's love with God's love.

The key to happiness is love. But not our love for God. It's the knowledge of His love for us. His unconditional, undefiled, pure love for us.

Having this knowledge, this understanding, this revelation is how we can live in constant state of being happy.

This is an extremely difficult task and one that has alluded mankind since the beginning of creation. We can be among the elite few by living each day with the full knowledge of the Infinite One's love for us.

"Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won't be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching, by human cunning with cleverness in the techniques of deceit."

-Ephesians 4:14

We will know without a doubt that we are the beloved of God.
