THE ETERNAL UNFOLDING

Taking Pleasure In The Process

Eternal Unfolding
Eternal Unfolding

Imagine me sitting down at my puzzle table and instead of opening it, carefully arranging each part, putting the boarder together, then piece by piece completing it, I said "well, since I already know what the completed puzzle will look like I think I'll just skip all of those steps."

The objective is to see the full picture of the puzzle, right? So I could just save myself the effort and stare at the box with the end result right in front of me.

Or I could enjoy every minute of my time spent figuring out the next move, relishing in the process.

The secret to enjoying every day of life is to find joy in the unfolding. Because once you complete one puzzle, you will find another one to start.

Furthermore, all it takes is one completed puzzle to give you enough confidence and reassurance that if you or anyone in the history of man did it once, it can be done again.

We all want instantaneous answers, quick fixes, rapid results but until we close the gap on not having it right away, we only keep ourselves from it longer.

If being "patient" is the only aspect of waiting you are missing out on an incredible opportunity.

Eagerly awaiting the answer is the exciting part. Looking for clues, nuggets, hints that its close is thrilling, exhilarating, electrifying.

It's almost as if the fulfillment of the request is hiding from you and the fun part is finding it.

Over the weekend my kids had a huge slumber party and I turned off all the lights and they hid from me.

Two of the girls were in such a good hiding spot that it took me a really long time to find them. I must have walked past them 10 times and didn't know they were there because they were completely still.

I could have easily given up and turned on the lights calling it game over but each minute that passed made me more fervent in finding them.

However, when the game was switched and they had to find me, one of the kids did just that. I hid so well that she pouted and gave up.

Therein lies the difference between enjoying the process of the unfolding verses getting so frustrated when it's not in front of you.

But I want you to listen to her reasoning for giving up finding me. I asked "why did you quit?" and she said "because it was too dark, I was scared and it was taking forever."

I don't even need to comment on that because I know that it resonated deep within you.

I don't think there's one of us that hasn't given up on a dream, desire or answer because we were in a dark place, scared or it was taking too long.

Understanding the rule book of life, the laws of the universe, the blueprint for success will undoubtedly change that.

This method of taking pleasure in the unfolding is applicable for every aspect of our lives. We can shorten the waiting time by applying this principle and even if takes just as long as it does for the frustrated person, at least we are having fun while waiting.
