JOY UNSPEAKABLE

Remaining Happy Despite Circumstances

It has been brought to my attention that not every body is happy. Clearly I'm being facetious with this statement.

Have you ever wanted to scream "who rained on your parade?" to the rude, obnoxious, always in a bad mood, (insert name here - friend, neighbor, spouse, relative, co-worker, etc.)?!

I literally have this thought almost every time I leave the house. It seems that the level of frustration, despair, discontentment, and borderline depression in the world is at an all time high.

I'm sure that I told you in a previous blog that I spent the last three years in a state of isolation. Being separated from the things that I enjoyed such as friends, television, having an occasional drink, social media, and cursing (yes you read that right haha - cussing was high on my list of enjoyment.)

The main reason for this purposed solitariness was to achieve a deeper level of discipline and to have a clear, undistracted mind.

However, secondary to that, I was that person. Angry at life, blaming others for my situations, feeling sorry for myself and convincing others to substantiate.

During this time I laid on my face before the Lord, I sought to make changes in myself that were limiting beliefs and hindering personality traits. Some of which were generational curses that were passed down for centuries I'm sure. I won't go further into detail in this blog, but one day I will.

Being at this "table for one," I've learned a lot about myself. I am able to identify quickly my mood shifts.

I often find it difficult to be around others that don't share in my enthusiasm to be happy, grateful and thankful 99% of the day.

I heard a preacher once say, "I was happy and full of joy until everybody came home." When you are by yourself it is easy to stay in a good mood. It's when others come into your existence the real challenge begins.

But the word "challenge" is an understatement. Maintaining a level of peace throughout the day when you are surrounded with others that don't always support you, and sometimes might purposely try and discourage you, is more than a challenge.

It can be labeled as a "thorn in your side" or an irritant that won't let up. In studying the pearl, it begins as an irritant in the fleshy part of the mollusk or oyster. If we were able to ask if this process is painful, I'm confident the answer would be yes. Pearls are extravagant and sought after by many. Understanding this analogy can change our perspectives on the person that rubs us the wrong way lol.

I often get "visuals" from the Lord. Allow me to elaborate. Instead of an intuition or an inner knowing that gives me instructions, direction or correction, sometimes I will see with my eyes something He is trying to show me.

I will happily share throughout the coming months some of these experiences. One day I took the kids to the indoor pool and this particular pool has an umbrella that when turned on it rains down water. As soon as the lifeguard flips the switch, you would think it was raining down candy by the screams and excitement of the children.

This day, the only kids at the pool were mine. Both of my them were at the opposite end of the umbrella. When I heard the rain start, I looked over to see this special needs adult man sitting under waiting for the rain to fall on his head.

The pure joy and anticipation on his face made my eyes swell up with tears. His excitement was contagious. I don't know if I have ever smiled so hard. Even as I recount this story, I am getting emotional.

At that moment, there was not a care in this man's mind. When the first drop hit his head, he got even more excited. Life was great. Life was actually more than great, it was amazing and fun.

This visual comes to my mind often. "Joy unspeakable" is when words aren't necessary. Words are in fact, inadequate when trying to articulate how you feel.

This has little to do with circumstances but rather an inner peace that only comes from God. This is His master plan for health and vitality.

We are God's highest form of creation. We are able to tap into an infinite supply of peace. "Peace that passes our understanding..." in every dilemma, any situation, every day, all day.

I believe having a supernatural peace, is having a piece of the heart of God. In the Bible alone, there are over 50 scriptures that reference peace.

One that I need to reference a lot is when the Apostle Paul says, "I think myself happy." Acts 26:2

This validates that we have the capability to control our state of being with our thoughts. The miracle of your mind is what differentiates us from all other forms of creation.

When a man realizes this, he can then conquer everything.
