"Yesterday's the past, tomorrow's the future, but today is a gift. That's why it's called the present." -Bill Keane
With all of the hustle and bustle of shopping until we drop, this time of the year is hectic, chaotic, rejuvenating, and wonderful all wrapped up in one huge bow.
This week is the "final stretch" of a much anticipated holiday. If you are nothing like me, you are fully prepared for this day months or even weeks ahead of schedule.
I wait until the last minute to run around like a chicken with its head cut off, trying to finish up before the Eve of Christmas. It's not like I wasn't aware that this day was vastly approaching. I mean, I only had 11 months notice lol.
Honestly, I think I secretly enjoy the intensity.
While some are preparing their luggage for a visit with loved ones, others are preparing their homes for loved ones to arrive. Few have decided to ignore this time of the year all together, yet most are utterly exhausted and the special day hasn't even came.
This week, I especially want to focus on giving myself a gift. Pausing, slowing myself all the way down to a complete stop, and fully enjoying exactly where I am.
I am far from where I want to be. I am a long way away from where I was. I look back and smile. I think ahead and get excited.
For now, today, I am just thankful.
No matter what I have accomplished or what I am still trying to achieve, in this very moment I will celebrate "my now."
This past year, like with many others, has seemingly flown by. I am quite shocked at how fast it slips through our hands.
Knowing this, I want to direct my attention to the present and get as much satisfaction from it that I possibly can.
It is my attempt in this short blog to aide you in the importance of giving yourself the best gift you can and that is to enjoy your "present."
