AUDACIOUS FAITH
AUDACIOUS FAITH

There's a viral song the says something along the lines "don't tell your dreams to everybody around..."

It goes on to say that some people act like they are for you but in reality they are against you.

I think in a lot of cultures we have sayings and beliefs that mean the same thing but are worded differently.

When I first met my in-laws from Pakistan they mentioned "bad eyes."

After learning what this meant, I said oh yes I know what that means and it's exactly what the lyrics of the song mention.

Back in 2020 when I first started my journey to living every day full of love, appreciation and faith, I was at the peak of my optimism. At that time, I thought every person I came in contact with shared the same.

It didn't take too long for me to figure out that certainly wasn't the case.

I distinctly remember two specific instances that happened. However, they both turned out completely different from each other.

I told someone very close to me that I had an idea for an app that almost every household could utilize and I wanted to bring to fruition but I didn't tell her any details.

I was shocked to hear what she had to say and the impact of that has greatly affected me, even to this day.

She said, "well that's nearly impossible because I'm sure it's already in existence and if it's not you have to be a millionaire to make it viral."

I walked away from that conversation deflated and I let her words become my truth.

The second conversation was with someone equally important and it went verbatim like this:

Me: I'm going to learn to speak French.

Him: Ha! Yeah right.

Only this time I allowed his doubt and mocking to motivate me, et maintenant, je parle très bien français.

Well-meaning people can unintentionally undermine your hopes, dreams and goals with negative opinions, comments and body language.

This is inevitable!!! How you proceed afterwards is what's important.

You can agree with their pessimism or you can use it as your greatest motivation.

Recently I have been purposefully practicing something I call "delusional faith."

For example, if I look in the mirror and one of my first thoughts is something negative I will counter it with something so bogus and delusional.

"Oh my gosh I look so fat."

"NO YOU ABSOLUTELY DO NOT!! You could be a runway model."

When I practice this, instantly I start laughing and it catapults me into a better feeling place.

But I honestly think it does more than changes my mood. I believe that this kind of delusional faith is what is shaping my "near-by, very close" reality.

The audacity of me looking at what is but not allowing the what is to be my truth.

I hope you understood what I just said because if you can grasp this, I can assure you that your entire life will change.

If I had only applied this principle six years ago I very well could have been one of the fastest growing tech companies around by now.

However, the harsh truth is, sometimes even if we don't share our hopes, dreams or goals with others our own negative self dialogue is what halts us.

So the next time you have a conversation with someone and they roll their eyes when you tell them something you are planning to do, I want you to say "I can't do anything but win."

The next time you decide you are going to accomplish a major goal, and you start with all the buts, tell yourself, "I can't do anything but win."
